About me

I'm Fliss Elsom Cook, and Fowberry Art is my studio in North Northumberland. I love painting abstract pieces, and introducing them to people who may never have bought any before.

I work mainly in oils and respond intuitively to the marks on the canvas. My stimuli include music, literature and natural forms.

I have recently created two series of works, ‘Rock Collection’ - influenced by the form and colour of stones, and ‘Fruit Bowl Trilogy’ which looks at Still Life subject matter. My paintings are often bold and colourful, and many are open to the viewers’ personal interpretation

I am also stimulated by the overlap of intuitive painting and musical improvisation, which is influenced by my saxophone playing in a jazz quartet.
